Creating a language version of a media item

Follow the below steps when you want to upload and link to a document (media item):

Step 1: Upload media item for ENGLISH

1. In Content Editor, navigate to the media library folder you want to upload the media item to
2. Upload the file and publish it. To publish:
   1. From the Sitecore Ribbon, select the Publish tab
   2. click on the down arrow to the right of the Publish option in the ribbon, and select Publish Item
   3. In the Publish Item dialogue window, select the following options:
      1. Smart publish
      2. Publishing language - Select all

   4. Click Publish

       

Step 2: Create language version

1. Click on the media item to select it
2. From the top right, click on English, and then select French (Canada) from the dropdown list. 
3. If the media item doesn't have a language version, you will see a yellow bar on the screen with an Add a new version link.  Click on the link.
4. In the Publish Item dialogue window, select the following options:
   1. Smart publish
   2. Publishing language - Select all
5. Click Publish

Step 3: Create a link to the document

The media item is now available and published in the 2 language versions allowing you to link to them from the relevant component.
