Prince Contracting, a subsidiary of FlatironDragados, is leading construction efforts for the SunTrax expansion, the first dedicated Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) test track in the United States and Florida’s headquarters for AAM.
Working with Turner Construction Company and the Florida Department of Transportation, the project team will build the dedicated environment for testing eVTOL aircraft—often described as “flying taxis”—and the systems needed to support an emerging aerial highway network.
What is Advanced Air Mobility?
Advanced Air Mobility refers to a new category of aviation built around electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. These aircraft are designed to move people and cargo over short regional distances, using an aerial network rather than the road system beneath it.
Before that network can operate, it has to be tested. That's what SunTrax is for.
What is being built at SunTrax?
The SunTrax expansion creates a controlled environment for testing eVTOL aircraft and the systems required to support them. The scope includes:
- Vertiports
- Charging and parking positions
- Maintenance and research capabilities
- Taxiways
- Utilities
- Dedicated testing airspace
