Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass recognized FlatironDragados Engineering Technician Alfredo Rodriguez Serrano during a news conference celebrating the latest round of investments to transform LAX through the $5 billion Multiple Award Task Order Contract program.
When Mayor Bass asked Rodriguez to share why the MATOC matters, he responded:
“It helps the City of Los Angeles and LAX prepare for the 2028 Summer Olympics. And because Los Angeles World Airport’s MATOC is creating opportunities not just for large firms like FlatironDragados but also for small businesses in the Los Angeles area.”
The latest round of investments includes 51 contracts with a pre-qualified pool of 31 contractors to ensure a faster award process and expedite construction. Of 31 contractors, 13 will be first-time prime contractors aimed at expanding opportunities to local small, medium and large firms. FlatironDragados is among the shortlisted companies.
The news conference spotlights MATOC’s role in preparing LAX for the 2026 World Cup and the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
