The Downtown Estes Park Loop won the American Public Works Association Colorado Chapter Project of the Year Award in the Transportation, Small Community category.
The project improved mobility and safety in the mountain community while supporting long-term infrastructure needs and visitor access in one of Colorado’s busiest tourist destinations.
Delivered through a joint effort by the Central Federal Lands Highway Division, the Town of Estes Park and the Colorado Department of Transportation, the project reduced congestion and enhanced access to Rocky Mountain National Park.
Key elements include a new roundabout, a reconstructed bridge and expanded sidewalks and trails for pedestrians and bicyclists.
The APWA Colorado Chapter recognizes projects that demonstrate excellence in management, innovation and community impact across the public works profession. The project was formally recognized during the chapter’s annual conference in Denver.
