In honor of Engineers Week we’re highlighting the career journey of Northern California’s Meaghan Vanderpol and how experience in the field can shape a career in heavy civil construction.
Meaghan began as a field engineer, building a strong foundation in plans, submittals and daily field operations while working closely with crews.
As her career progressed, her responsibilities expanded into planning, cost, strategy and leadership across major water projects. These experiences helped her understand how projects come together long before construction begins.
Today, she serves as general superintendent at the Orinda Water Treatment Plant, leading multiple crews and planning years ahead while staying closely connected to the field.
Her advice to future engineers: learn as much as you can in the field, stay curious and build on every opportunity.
