Seattle is known for rain, emerald landscapes and iconic waterways. The Ballard Tunnel Effluent Pump Station is critical in keeping polluted stormwater and sewage out of local waters — especially during heavy rains.
When complete, the station will collect polluted stormwater and sewage from a 2.7-mile-long storage tunnel and deliver it to King County’s West Point Treatment Plant, preventing millions of gallons of untreated overflow from entering Puget Sound.
The site includes a 110-foot-deep wet well and an 80-foot tower. Crews completed an 80-foot-diameter, three-crane formwork hoist and placed 1,500 cubic yards of concrete in the shaft liner. Dry well and interior construction are underway.
This work builds on FlatironDragados’ experience delivering key water infrastructure along the West Coast — including Seattle's Georgetown Wet Weather Treatment Station, Northern California's Orinda Water Treatment Plant and San Diego's Morena Pump Station.
