Early 2030sProject Overview
FlatironDragados and joint-venture partner Sukut Construction were selected for the preconstruction services phase of the Wild Horse Reservoir project to help Aurora, Colorado, meet long-term water needs. Our team has been contracted for three years at $6.5 million to conduct predesign and preconstruction services.
Aurora is one of the fastest-growing cities in Colorado but is not located near a major water source. The reservoir (to be built in Park County) will enable the city to improve reliability and resiliency of its water system, help expand potable reuse to meet future water needs as well as provide water management flexibility during droughts or system emergencies.
The Wild Horse South Reservoir will include:
- Water volume of 95,000 acre-feet
- Approximately 16 miles of 60-to-66-inch pipeline
- One dam
- Approximately 12 shore miles
Given the complexity of the project, the CM/GC delivery method is ideal, fostering early and ongoing collaboration with all stakeholders.
