2031Project Overview
In Atlanta, the third-fastest growing city in the United States, the State Route 400 Express Lanes project will include the construction of two managed toll lanes in each direction of the roadway for approximately 15 miles, plus an additional managed toll lane in some segments of the highway. It’s one of the largest roadway projects in the United States.
This project is a critical piece of Georgia's Major Mobility Investment Program, which seeks to improve roadway connections and reduce congestion on both SR 400 and its connection to Interstate 285. SR 400 is the primary north-south link between Atlanta's key business centers and residential areas in Fulton and Forsyth counties.
The express lanes will be built by a public-private partnership of FlatironDragados, ACS Infrastructure, Meridiam, Acciona Concesiones and Acciona Construction. This consortium is designing, building, partly financing, operating and maintaining State Route 400 Express Lanes for 50 years, with oversight by the Georgia DOT and the Georgia State Road Tollway Authority.
