2028Project Overview
The Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) Automated Transit Network project will introduce a zero-emission transit system with self-driving, 4-person shuttles in East Contra Costa County, providing a sustainable transportation and diverse mobility alternative in the San Francisco Bay Area.
The CCTA and Tri Delta Transit selected East County Connection Partners to deliver Phase One of this project. The ECCP team includes lead construction contractor FlatironDragados, along with transportation innovators Glydways and Plenary Americas. This effort will be delivered through a progressive public-private partnership.
Key elements include:
- Zero-emission, autonomous, on-demand, four-person Glydcars
- Dedicated, elevated and at-grade paved guideways fully separated from traffic
- Reduced greenhouse gas emissions and improved connectivity to regional transit
- Enhanced economic opportunities for underserved communities
The CCTA Automated Transit Network will seamlessly link East Contra Costa County with broader transit networks, including Bay Area Rapid Transit, improving access to employment centers and reducing congestion.
