Groupe Héritage Île d'Orléans, a joint venture of EBC and FlatironDragados, has completed the A7T test pile for the new Île-d'Orléans Bridge in Quebec. The pile sets a Canadian record for its size and scope.
By the Numbers:
- More than 380 cubic meters (13,419 cubic feet) of concrete.
- Reinforced with 105+ tons of steel.
- The height of the finished pile is taller than the Chateau Frontenac, a historic building that stands almost 80 meters (262 feet). The previous Canadian record was 75 meters (246 feet), set at the Stantec Tower in Edmonton.
The new cable-stayed bridge will replace a crossing that has served Quebec since 1935. Once complete, the new Île-d'Orléans Bridge will span just over two kilometers (1.24 miles) and will enhance travel for the local community
This record-breaking milestone involved all teams as we advance on this significant project by the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.
