The United Airlines Remote Aircraft Parking Pad (UAL RAPP) earned an Excellence in Concrete Paving Award in the Industrial/Commercial Paving category from the American Concrete Pavement Association Colorado/Wyoming Chapter.
“This award highlights the technical execution and coordination required to deliver the United Airlines Remote Aircraft Parking Pad,” said Stephen Wheeler, Colorado Operations Manager. “It reflects the discipline and consistency our team brought to every stage of the project.”
Designed to expand aircraft storage capacity at one of United’s busiest hubs, the remote parking pad accommodates up to 20 narrow-body aircraft, such as the Airbus A321 or Boeing 737 MAX 10, or five larger wide-body aircraft. The team paved more than 100,000 square yards of apron and incorporated more than 60,000 tons of recycled concrete aggregate into the project and mix designs.
The American Concrete Pavement Association Colorado/Wyoming Chapter advances concrete pavement as a valuable and sustainable solution across market sectors and has promoted quality concrete paving in both states since 1984.
