The American Segmental Bridge Institute named Sereno Brown, FlatironDragados Vice President of Construction Engineering, as its next president for 2026-2028. Our company was among the founders of ASBI in 1989, and Sereno’s decades of leadership in complex bridge construction position him well to help guide the organization’s future.
“I am grateful to FlatironDragados for allowing me the time to give back to the ASBI,” Sereno said. “It is a privilege to work with such an extraordinary group of professionals and help provide a forum where designers, owners, suppliers and contractors can exchange knowledge and advance segmental bridges and complex concrete structures.”
Sereno began his segmental work on the Sagadahoc Bridge in Maine in 1997. His experience expanded to the West Coast with the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge Skyway project, which featured some of the largest precast balanced cantilever segments ever built. He has since contributed technical leadership to major projects in the United States and Canada, including the Signature on the Saint Lawrence in Quebec, the Harbor Bridge in Texas and the John James Audubon Bridge in Louisiana.
In addition to segmental construction, his portfolio encompasses conventional precast girders, long-span steel girders and stay-cabled structures, as well as advanced hoisting and lowering expertise, including the synchronous lowering of modular precast cofferdams and the multi-point hoisting of two 2,000-ton orthotropic box girders.
ASBI was incorporated in 1989 as a nonprofit organization to provide a forum where owners, designers, constructors and suppliers can meet to further refine procedures and evolve new techniques that will advance the quality and use of concrete segmental bridges.
Sereno will serve ASBI during a period of ongoing innovation in precast and complex concrete solutions, helping progress the industry’s continued growth through collaboration, technical excellence and shared expertise.
